Different Finish Levels
The Choice is Yours
Quality Stone Restoration can produce the brilliance of a high polish, the silky reflection of a satin finish, or the warm, gentle glow of a quality hone.
More than anything, polishing or honing your marble, travertine, limestone, granite, or other natural stone is a matter of personal preference. What do you enjoy looking at most, and what are your maintenance preferences?

Honed vs. Polished: The Advantages of Each
Each finish level has its advantages and disadvantages. The higher the polish, the easier it is to clean and keep clean due to its smoothness. On the downside, any etch marks caused by acidic liquids coming into contact with the polished stone are much more visible due to the contrast of the dull etch mark against the polish. With a low hone level, etch marks are much less visible due to less contrast.
The disadvantage to honed stone is the maintenance aspect. On a microscopic level, the surface of a honed floor is very rough compared to a polished surface. That additional texture grabs dirt and grime easier, holds on to it better, and requires professional maintenance more frequently.
